It all began half a century ago.

Our father opened his first restaurant — Raj Dulal, in South Shields — a prestigious establishment that welcomed and served the discerning diners of the North East. It quickly became a name associated with quality, warmth, and tradition.

Fifty years later, the Shah family proudly returns to where it all began, bringing back the nostalgia of that golden era — right here in South Shields. This is more than a reopening; it’s a continuation of a legacy that’s rooted in family, flavour, and fierce passion. Determined to stand out in a crowded marketplace, and to honour the true flavours of India and Bangladesh, our latest venture was born.

Our menu is street food-inspired, bursting with bold, authentic flavours — a celebration of the dishes we grew up with, now reimagined for today’s diner. We’re proud to work with some of the top chefs in the North East, all of whom share our passion for excellence and innovation.
